Middle-class Russian home interiors of the 19th and early 20th centuries:
- Some of the best: Tolstoy 1, Tolstoy 2, and Tolstoy 3; Tolstoy;

The Russian Museums web site attempts to list every museum in Russia. Most links have a couple pictures of the museum. Although the photos are small, there are still a good number of interior shots that I’ve found nowhere else. The best way to find them is to look at the museums with the term “home” or “house” in the name.
Nicholas II study in Alexander’s Palace:
- Webshots: extensive current photos
- Time Machine: historical photos
Prokudin-Gorskii pictures. Almost all are outside, but there are a few interior clues. In particular, he took several pix of objects which aren’t as important to us, but they show furniture and interiors that are. Why this guy took 2500 pictures of buildings but never thought to take a pic inside anything but a church or factory is a mystery to me:
- patio
- have no idea
- library desk (poor pic)
- room
- room
- couch & background
- room
- table
- background doors & wall
- interior
- table
- exterior, furniture, decorative
- table
- table
- not sure. Church storage cabinet
- storage room
- storehouse
- patio
Faberge resources:
- Wartski: in particular, note the archives section. Numerous high-quality photos including photos of the backs of objects.
- Faberge research center
- egg information probably the most complete overall info on the web
- Forbes Faberge-egg Instructables contest: I’d love to work this story into one of the study activities
- A little history I haven’t found elsewhere
