Iconostasis at the Faberge exhibit

Iconostasis

David LovegroveExhibitions

Within a tiny floor space and low 9-foot ceiling, we decided to build a cathedral. The iconostasis is a foreign concept to most Americans, and the easiest way to begin understanding is to experience it. This exhibit showed a real, though small, iconostasis and explained its images and meaning. The centerpiece podium displayed a genuine Russian icon from the 19th century.

The back side of this wall functions as a fireplace in a recreation of the office of Czar Nicholas II.
